When we ride a two-wheeled electric vehicle, we may rarely pay attention to the dashboard in front of us, seemingly assuming that it is just a single-function LED screen. However, this neglected "small space" holds a vast blue ocean for Hangzhou Chenhan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. This enterprise located in Tonglu Economic Development Zone has delved deeply into this field, transforming the simple dashboard into an intelligent core for human-vehicle interaction, and has made "significant achievements" that lead the industry.
The journey of a screen going global
Stepping into the production workshop of Chenhan Intelligent, two SMT fully automatic production lines are operating efficiently. The mounted boards complete precise welding through the reflow oven. After passing the inspection, they are coated with a protective layer of three-proof paint. Finally, under the precise operation of assembly workers,一块块 intelligent instrument panels are thus formed.
Next to a high-speed electric motorcycle exported overseas, a technician tapped the screen of his mobile phone and, using the company's self-developed "Xiaomo Qixing" APP, cast the phone's screen onto the vehicle's smart dashboard. "Navigation information can be displayed directly on it, so there's no need to look at the phone while riding," he introduced while demonstrating. At this moment, this screen has become an intelligent interactive terminal. It can not only realize convenient functions such as precise navigation, voice control, and Bluetooth transmission but also complete in-depth operations like vehicle-wide OTA (Over-the-Air Technology) upgrades and automatic time calibration. Additionally, it can monitor the vehicle's riding status in real-time to ensure riding safety.
"At the end of 2022, we shipped out our first batch of overseas orders, and in the following two years, the orders doubled each year," said Liu Jinquan, the founder of the company, with a hint of joy in his calm tone. "Recently, we have already secured large orders of 100,000 units from Vietnam and 50,000 units from South Korea, as well as orders for export to Russia and other countries." Nowadays, the overseas market, which accounts for as high as 95% of the total, has become the most solid growth engine for Chenhan Intelligent. With the commissioning of the headquarters base in Tonglu, the production capacity bottleneck has been broken. "After the completion of the second-phase project, the annual production capacity of the base will stabilize at around 100,000 units," Liu Jinquan revealed.
The technical confidence brought by hardcore strength
Chenhan Intelligent has achieved rapid success in testing the waters in overseas markets, with its strongest "stepping stone" stemming from its solid technical strength. Liu Jinquan and his core team have many years of experience in developing military-grade chips and systems. In his view, the military industry has extremely stringent certification standards for the "all-weather and all-terrain" reliability of electronic equipment. This standard happens to be naturally compatible with regions with harsh climates such as Russia, South Africa, India, and the Middle East. Based on this, the R&D team has "downgraded" and applied the accumulated military-grade graphics processing and environmental adaptation technologies to intelligent instrument panels of electric vehicles. The products have undergone comprehensive military-standard tests including waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and resistance to high and low temperatures, demonstrating excellent outdoor stability. Liu Jinquan gave an example: in the harsh cold environment in Russia, its intelligent instrument panel can stably display navigation and vehicle data, ensuring long battery life, which is a direct manifestation of military-grade low-temperature resistance technology.
Along the technology chain, Chenhan Intelligent continues to make breakthroughs upwards. Through long-term research and development, the enterprise has achieved independent research and development of technologies ranging from basic materials, core chips, operating systems to communication protocol stacks, completing domestic substitution. For example, the MOOS operating system "tailor-made" for electric vehicle dashboards not only completely avoids copyright disputes when products are exported, but also significantly reduces costs through mass production. At present, the company has more than 120 patents, including inventions, designs, and utility models, and has been selected as one of the first batch of specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and novel small and medium-sized enterprises in Zhejiang Province in 2024.
From "Two Wheels" to Infinite Possibilities
With the support of hardcore technologies, Chenhan Intelligent has taken a step further, continuously expanding the application boundaries of its products. In the company's exhibition hall, Liu Jinquan pointed to a light four-wheel pickup truck exported to Russia and introduced, "This vehicle is equipped with the company's intelligent cockpit system, which can be adapted to our newly launched 'Intelligent Driving Partner' APP and can be flexibly applied to hundreds of vehicle models."
Starting from two-wheeled electric vehicles, Chenhan Intelligent's business territory has gradually expanded to various scenarios such as light passenger vehicles, golf carts, scenic area mobility vehicles, and even yachts. "Our technology has strong transferability," said Liu Jinquan. "By applying the logic that adapts to 'wheels' to industries such as drones and embodied robots, we can quickly enter new fields, and there is broad room for future development."
In February of this year, Chenhan Intelligent's production headquarters, with a total investment of 400 million yuan, settled in Tonglu, which is also a long-term layout based on this strategy. "Here, there is the logistics advantage of being 'the hometown of China's private express delivery industry', coupled with the emerging intelligent unmanned equipment industry ecosystem in the local area, forming Tonglu's unique regional advantages," Liu Jinquan added. "Our intelligent cockpit system is highly compatible with the unmanned vehicle industry chain and has a natural foundation for upstream and downstream collaboration." At present, Chenhan Intelligent has carried out substantive negotiations with a number of local enterprises and is actively promoting the application verification of intelligent cockpits in the unmanned vehicle track. Starting from an intelligent instrument panel, Chenhan Intelligent is steadily advancing in the long march of technological innovation with solid technical accumulation and accurate market insight, and opening up its own route in the global market.
